The Calm - Down Nest Your Cat Actually Chooses — And You Won't Hide

She picks the cardboard box over every bed you buy — that's instinct, not fussiness. The Mew Basket gives her what the box does: low walls she can watch the room from, so she feels safe enough to settle. Natural rope she can hook a claw into, a shape she wants to nest in — she chooses it, usually within the first week.

Why she'll actually use it.

Leave for work with a calmer cat — low walls let her watch the room, so she settles instead of stressing.

She finally has rope she's allowed to claw — a natural texture she can hook into, not another off-limits surface

End the "why won't she use it?" saga — built for the instinct that makes her pick the laundry basket, so she chooses it.

Beautiful enough to leave out — looks like decor, not a plastic eyesore

30-Day "Won't Sleep In The Box" Guarantee

Finally, a basket you won't want to hide.

You already know how this goes. The padded bed, the doughnut, the fleece mat — all still in the corner, and she sleeps in the carton one of them came in. There's nothing wrong with her taste — a box is firm, it's the right size, and it has walls. What's wrong is that it's a cardboard box in your living room, shedding flakes across the rug every time she works at the edge. This is the same idea made properly: coiled cotton rope wound into a wall that stands up on its own, in brown, grey or green. The shape she'd have picked anyway, minus the cardboard, and not something you tidy away before guests arrive.

Why this one earns its floor space

Every cat owner has a cupboard of things she ignored — and a corner with a flattened bed beside a shredded cardboard pad. Four reasons this replaces both.

The box feeling — without the cardboard

The box feeling — without the cardboard

There's a reason she picks the shipping box over the plush cushion: low walls let her watch the room and feel safe. The Mew Basket gives her that same security — she settles instead of stressing — without the cardboard shredding across your rug.

No foam, no stuffing

No foam, no stuffing

Every bed she's snubbed was foam wrapped in something soft. This is coiled rope all the way through — no foam, no cushion. Drop in the blanket she already sleeps on; that's the part you wash.

Rope with something to hook a claw into

Rope with something to hook a claw into

A plush bed gives a claw nothing to grip. Coiled rope does the opposite — a natural texture she can hook into and nest around.

Beautiful enough to leave in the living room

You shouldn't have to choose between a happy cat and a room you like. Neutral, earthy tones and a woven texture — something you chose, not something you tolerate

Not a fair fight — we chose the comparison. Here it is anyway.

Why Buy 2 or More?

Cats don't stay in one room. Here's what changes when there's more than one basket — and what it saves.

Benefits illustration

One where you are, one where you aren't

If she follows you from room to room, she's choosing your company over the spot. A basket in each of the two rooms you actually use means she can settle instead of trailing after you.

The same look in every room

Upgrade the living room and you've still got a cardboard box in the bedroom. Three colours and one shape — brown in one room, grey in another, and the house still reads as one decision rather than three.

Two cats, two corners

One basket, two cats? Two baskets, two corners — one each, in different rooms, so the good spot isn't the only spot

The Family Pack

Three baskets is the Family Pack — save 40%, the lowest price per basket. Two baskets save 25%. The multi-buy discount comes off automatically at checkout, no code needed

What Real Customers Say

Living with it Four things worth knowing.

How to clean it

For daily upkeep, use a vacuum or pet-hair glove to pull fur from the rope's ridges. Spot-clean marks with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Always let it air-dry completely, away from direct heat, before use.

Important: To prevent the basket from shrinking or losing its rigid shape, please strictly avoid machine washing or tumble drying.

Ways to clean it

  • Preferred Method: (For vacuuming/hair-remover glove)
  • Alternative Care: (For spot cleaning with a damp cloth)
  • Least Recommended: (For machine washing)

It may look oval

It's a wide, shallow rope basket, so it ships folded flat rather than boxed round. Yours may arrive oval with the sides leaning inward. That's the packing, not damage.

Getting it round again

  • Stand it on the floor and ease the rim outward with both hands
  • Leave something soft and weighty in the middle overnight
  • It settles into shape as it gets used

What you get

One basket, with ear-shaped handles and a rope tail on the front to bat. There's no cushion — drop in the blanket she already sleeps on.

What's included

  • Handwoven cotton rope basket
  • Ear-shaped handles
  • Rope tail with a knotted ball
  • No cushion — drop in the blanket she already sleeps on
  • Then you wash the blanket not the basket

Medium or Large

Medium is 42cm across and 14cm tall. Large is 48cm and 15cm. Both fit a cat of any ordinary size, so the real question is whether she stretches out.

Which one to pick

  • Medium if she sleeps curled in a tight circle
  • Large if she sprawls or is long rather than heavy
  • Two cats? Two baskets — two corners
  • Three colours: brown · grey · green

Ordering, delivery and returns

The practical questions. Anything about the basket itself is answered further up the page.

How long will delivery take? +

Free UK delivery on every order.

We dispatch within 3–5 working days, and delivery usually takes 10–15 working days after that.

What happens when she scratches it? +

Coiled rope has a ribbed surface with something to hook a claw into, and it's the same rope all the way through rather than a fabric cover stretched over foam

Should I get more than one? +

Two good reasons

If you've got more than one cat: two baskets, two corners. One each, in different rooms

And if you've got one cat who follows you from room to room, having one where you are and one where you aren't means she settles instead of trailing after you.

Two baskets save 25%. Three — the Family Pack — save 40%. It comes off automatically at checkout, and you can mix the colours.

Do I get a discount for more than one? +

Yes, and it comes off automatically. There's no code to enter.

Two baskets save 25%. Three baskets — the Family Pack — save 40%.

On Medium that's £103.50 for two or £124.20 for three.

On Large, £118.50 for two or £142.20 for three.

Mix the colours however you like — the discount counts baskets, not which ones. If you add them to your basket separately you can mix the sizes too.

One thing to know: because it applies automatically, it can't be combined with a separate discount code.

Do you have a discount code? +

No, and we'd rather say so than have you hunting for one. The volume discount above is the only offer we run, and it applies by itself at checkout. If we ever run a real promotion, we'll say so plainly on the page.

What if she won't sleep in it? +

That's what the 30-Day Won't Sleep In The Box Guarantee is for. Give it a couple of weeks first, with the blanket she already sleeps on inside.

Still a no? Email info@capnerscreations.co.uk within 30 days of delivery, with your order number and a photo of the basket, and we'll sort out a refund. Depending on its condition, we'll either ask for it back or tell you to keep it and pass it on to a friend's cat or a local shelter. This is once per customer, on top of your legal rights.

Changed your mind? If it's unused and in its original packaging, you have 30 days from delivery to ask for a return. Either way, email us before posting anything back. Return postage is yours unless it arrived faulty, damaged or not what you ordered. The full details are in our Returns and Refund Policy.

30-Day "Won't Sleep In The Box" Guarantee

Cats are not reasonable customers. If yours inspects the basket, sits in the cardboard box it arrived in, and never mentions it again — that's not your fault, and you shouldn't be left paying for it. Which is why there's a 30-Day Won't Sleep In The Box Guarantee. Give her a fortnight first. If she still won't have it within 30 days of delivery, email us and we'll sort out a refund — depending on its condition, we'll either ask for it back or tell you to keep it and pass it on to a friend's cat or a local shelter.
